Field Theory and Kam Tori
The parametric equations of KAM tori for a l degrees of freedom quasi integrable system, are shown to be one point Schwinger functions of a suitable euclidean quantum eld theory on the l dimensional torus. KAM theorem is equivalent to a ultraviolet stability theorem. A renormalization group treatment of the eld theory leads to a resummation of the formal pertubation series and to an expansion i...
متن کاملKAM Theorem and Quantum Field Theory
We give a new proof of the KAM theorem for analytic Hamiltonians. The proof is inspired by a quantum field theory formulation of the problem and is based on a renormalization group argument treating the small denominators inductively scale by scale. The crucial cancellations of resonances are shown to follow from the Ward identities expressing the translation invariance of the corresponding fie...
متن کاملRenormalization Group and Field Theoretic Techniques for the Analysis of the Lindstedt Series
The Lindstedt series were introduced in the XIX century in Astronomy to study perturbatively quasi-periodic motions in Celestial Mechanics. In Mathematical Physics, after getting the attention of Poincaré, who studied them widely by pursuing to all orders the analysis of Lindstedt and Newcomb, their use was somehow superseded by other methods usually referred to as KAM theory. Only recently, af...
متن کاملKinetic Transport in Crystals
One of the central challenges in kinetic theory is the derivation of macroscopic evolution equations—describing, for example, the dynamics of an electron gas—from the underlying fundamental microscopic laws of classical or quantum mechanics. An iconic mathematical model in this research area is the Lorentz gas, which describes an ensemble of non-interacting point particles in an infinite array ...

Renormalization group limit cycles may be a commonplace for quantum Hamiltonians requiring renormalization, in contrast to experience to date with classical models of critical points, where fixed points are far more common. We discuss the simplest model Hamiltonian identified to date that exhibits a renormalization group limit cycle. The model is a discrete Hamiltonian with two coupling constan...
